Software Operations

The following page details the operations to follow in order to use the Keynes Controls OPC Server. This software can be used to pass data in real-time to many different third party packages supporting OPC client operations. The OPC server operates in collaboration with the PodMng.exe driver software for the
Windows NT, 2000 and XP operating systems. The NetPod OPC Server uses data model 2.0.

Supported Hardware

The
NetPod OPC server supports the NetPod 4000, NDACS 6000 and the NDACS 8000 family of control systems. The software supports the use of all of these products distributed on the same local area network.

2) Install the NetPod OPC Server software.

Store the
NetOPC3.exe software into the OPC software directory. There is no dedicated directory required for the operation of this software but Keynes recommends that a dedicated directory for the purpose of OPC operations be used.

The
NetOPC3.exesoftware should be loaded from the driver CD
or will be supplied in the form of an attachment to an E-mail. No matter how the software is supplied the software should be stored to disk.

3) Identify the instruments upon the LAN by scanning the network

Configure ® Scan Network

from the Main Window.

4) Start Data Acquisition Operations:
File ® Run Mode (task bar icon goes from red to green)

Running NetPod OPC Server.

The NetPod OPC server operates in collaboration with the PodMng.exe Microsoft Windows driver software. The Podmng software performs all of the the low level network operations including the data management from the instruments. PodMng automatically undertakes data recovery of data packets in case of loss.

1) Install the
PodMng.exe software.
