General Description
The NDACS8047 card is a general purpose
analogue input card offering 16 full differential inputs or 32 single ended
inputs using a low noise 16 bit ADC in a single device. The 8047 card works
with the Keynes Controls 8100 processor card within the 8000 series control
systems and 7000 series general purpose data acquisition and control
instruments.
The NDACS 8047 is user jumper selectable to
switch between 16 channel full differential or 32 channel single ended
operations. Full differential inputs over very good noise immunity while single
ended operations offer very good cost effective solutions.
Each analogue input untilises a 16 bit low
noise ADC for analogue to digital conversion offering 65,000 input levels and
also contains indivually programmable input amplifeiers. The input amplifiers
can be individually set for each channel and can be set to optimise signal
inputs from strain gauges, thermocouples, RTD etc..
Opto-isolation
The analogue input section of the NDACS
8047 is block isolated from the digital bus by an opto-isolator circuit overing
a differential operating voltage up to 1000V between the chassis and the
sensors. The high differential operating voltage allows the cards to be simply
installed and operated in many industrial applications without any special
installation precautions being required.
Data Acquisition System
The 8045 card utilises a single 16 bit ADC
to digitise the analogue signals. The aggregate sample rate of the card is
100,000 samples/sec.. Each input is passed in turn using the MUX to the
Analogue converter where it is digitised. Each sample is passed to the control
processor where hardware data validity checks are used to ensure that the data
is within range and not corrupted. |
